Ok so after months of speculation it looks like these two big giants are near to close the deal. What does this mean for us, well what it means for Google is definitely more competition from the search engine point of view.

It seems the Microsoft have been after the acquisition of Google in the past with a $47 million bid take over bid proposed but Yahoo since rejected. This hasn't stopped Microsoft and now i think they have finally come to a agreement with a joint search and advertising venture. But in my opinion how much effort is going to be needed to even make a dent in Google 67% market share of the global search engine market according to comScore.

Yahoo currently has 8% share of the global search market and is the second most popular search engine worldwide. Microsoft however despites its recent efforts with the re-branding and re-launch of it search engine Bing only has around 3% market share.

Well were going to have to wait and see on this one, internet marketers may now have to start doing some SEO for Yahoo/Microsoft in the future depending on which tools and services this venture brings. Watch this space.
